Materials & Care
Built for the Ocean. Made to Last. Designed with Purpose.
At Pez León, every piece is built to go where you go — into the ocean, through the sun, and back again. That starts with the materials.
Our Metals
All Pez León jewellery is crafted on a base of 316L marine-grade stainless steel — the same grade used in marine and surgical applications. It is highly corrosion-resistant, hypoallergenic, nickel-free, lead-free, and cadmium-free. Built for salt, sweat, and sun.
Our gold-tone pieces are finished with 18ct PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) gold plating at a minimum of 0.8 microns. PVD is a vacuum ion process that creates a stronger, harder bond than traditional gold plating — resulting in greater scratch resistance, improved colour retention, and a finish that lasts.
We do not use brass, copper, or mystery alloys. We do not use fast-fashion plating standards.
The Lionfish Fins
Each fin is ethically sourced from lionfish harvested by indigenous fishermen in Bocas del Toro, Panama, and expanding regions. The fins are carefully preserved in resin, locking in the natural pattern permanently.
No two fins are identical — which means no two pieces are ever the same. The piece you receive will be unique to you.
Caring for Your Piece
Our jewellery is designed to be worn — in the ocean, at the beach, through everyday life. That said, a little care goes a long way:
- Rinse with fresh water after extended ocean or pool exposure
- Avoid prolonged contact with harsh chemicals (perfumes, cleaning products)
- Store in a dry place when not being worn
- Polish gently with a soft cloth to maintain shine
Skin Safety
All Pez León pieces are nickel-free, lead-free, and cadmium-free. Marine-grade stainless steel is one of the most biocompatible metals available and is suitable for most sensitive skin types.
